People heard Firefighters yelling FREE Ice Cream, come get it, and when they walked by the Haagen Dazs store located on the second floor of the Burbank Town Center, they lined up for a free scoop in trade for a donation to ‘Fill The Boot’ a MDA campaign supported by firefighters throughout Southern California.
Burbank Firefighters worked the scoops under the watchful eyes of the store employees who gave scooping methods and tips.
Burbank Firefighters Local 778 does several of these type of events throughout the year, along with other ‘Fill The Boot’ projects.
Last year the Brotherhood of Burbank Firefighters collected over $ 40,000 from these events, and this year they hope surpass that amount.
Several of the firefighters came on their days off to help, even bringing their kids, to show them the ways they could get involved in helping people walk from Muscular Disease.
