Four residential burglaries were reported to police on Friday, May 16, resulting in a loss of thousands of dollars worth of items including computers, gaming consoles, gift cards, cash, electronics, cigars and alcohol.
At 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of N. Maple Street, after the resident returned home to find his master bedroom ransacked and some of his wife’s jewelry on the floor, said Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department.
Entry was made through the master bedroom window. The screen had been removed and placed against the wall outside. The victim had left the house between 12:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. that day.
A MacBook Pro, an external hard drive, an iPad and a messenger bag were all reported stolen, in addition to currency and gift cards worth about $1300.
At 3:42 p.m. Friday, officers went to the 300 block of N. Lima Street to take a report on burglary that occurred sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15. The victim returned home to find the front gate ajar.
An Xbox 360, six games, a controller and headphones, along with headphones from an upstairs bedroom, were taken. Nothing else was taken from the home, including laptops, cameras and computers.
There were no signs of forced entry, as a door had been left unlocked for the children to enter the home, said Ryburn.
At 5:15 p.m. Friday, police were called to the 500 block of N. Cordova Street after the residents returned home to find the exterior security door closed but not locked and the front door open.
Entry had been made through a bedroom window, with the screen taken out and set against the exterior of the house, Ryburn said.
A flat screen television, a 12″ by 24″ humidor with cigars and three bottles of alcohol, along with a large duffel bag, were reported stolen.
At 7:30 p.m. Friday, officers went to the 300 bock of N. Avon Street for another residential burglary report. The victim had left the residence between 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. that day.
The victim had returned to find a television from the rear bedroom missing, along with Xbox 360 and Wii consoles. Several drawers and cabinets had been rummaged through.
Entry was made through an unlocked rear door, added Ryburn.
There are no suspects in the four burglaries at this time, but police encourage anyone in the area who may have seen something or know something about the thefts to contact the department at 818-238-3210.
