Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes will be on hand this Saturday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 am to talk with residents about E-waste. Come properly dispose of your electronic discards (E-waste)! E-waste consists of old or broken computer monitors, television sets, printers, PC systems, mainframe units, copiers, fax machines, scanners, toner cartridges, PDAs, networking equipment, motherboard systems, vcr/dvd/vcd players, home entertainment systems, cellular and landline telephones, and batteries. The event runs from 9 am to 3 pm.
Did you know that –
- Electronic discards are the fastest growing segment of our nation’s waste stream?
- 56% of American households have functional e-products that they no longer use?
- Less than 10% of e-waste is being properly disposed of, dismantled or recycled?
- 70% of heavy metals, 40% of lead and mercury contents found in today’s landfills come from e-waste?
F and H Office Systems and Unity Church are hosting this free electronic waste (E-waste) collection event at their parking lot located at 637 South Victory Blvd., Burbank, CA 91502. With the support of Burbank Mayor Jess Talamantes, Burbank Temple Beth Emet, Burbank Recycling Center, California Product Stewardship Council, and The Burbank Chamber of Commerce.
