Ross’ Retro is a Gas

By On August 21, 2012

Remember when there were Gas Wars and stations would have lines going for blocks, offering gas at the best prices. Pictured here is Bill Rhodes, the station mechanic at Dawson Union Station, as he marched around the intersection of Hollywood Way and Magnolia Blvd. with this sandwich board promoting gas for $ 1.00 a gallon. This week gas was at an all time high going for $ 4.32 a gallon.

Do you remember when GAS was $1.00 a gallon?? Back in the mid 1980's, this picture taken at Dawson's Union at Hollywood Way & Magnolia Bl. (Photo by Ross A. Benson)
