Burbank Extends Cooling Center Hours at Buena Vista Library

By On August 10, 2012

The City of Burbank is extending the hours of operation at one of its designated cooling centers to provide relief from the heat wave that is now forecast to last through the weekend.

One way to beat the heat is to find a neighborhood lemonade stand like this one on Fairmount Road. Pictured is (L to R) Sierra Brogmus (8), Raquel Brogmus (6) and Lily Sanchez (6) as they serve up some delicious homemade lemonade (Photo By Craig Sherwood)

The City has already encouraged residents to seek relief from the heat by visiting either the Buena Vista Library at 300 N. Buena Vista Street or the Burbank Central Library at 110 N. Glenoaks Boulevard. The Northwest Branch Library on W. Victory Boulevard remains closed for seismic retrofitting until Spring 2013.

Now that the extreme high temperatures are expected to continue through Sunday, the City is  extending the hours of operation at Buena Vista Library, which is centrally located and offers the
most efficient cooling system. The Central Library hours will remain the same.

The designated cooling centers will now be open during the following hours:
Buena Vista Library
Mon-Thurs 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Sunday 1:00 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Burbank Central Library
Mon-Thurs   9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Friday 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
