The Mount San Antonio College Invitational in Walnut is one of the biggest meets and Burroughs High’s cross-country team was well represented on Saturday as Alexander Hirsch and Emily Virtue each had times in the top 15.
Hirsch’s clocking of 14 minutes and 46 seconds secured him fourth place in the boys’ team sweepstakes and was the fifth fastest overall, while Virtue came in third (17:21) in the girls’ individual sweepstakes and her time was also the fifth fastest.
The Indians placed third overall in the boys’ sweepstakes as Justin Villagran grabbed 23rd (15:28) and Andrew Barrondo took 24th (15:28).
In the same race, Timothy Wells garnered 29th (15:31), while Manne Green took 81st (16:13), Adam Villalpando was 85th (16:15) and Patrick Wells grabbed 115th (17:01).
Heidi Eligio was 43rd (19:38) in the girls’ individual sweepstakes where the team garnered seventh place and third place in Division I.
Lakely Nealis was 56th (20:10), Sapphire Sandoval took 58th (20:17), Eileen Eckles finished 61st (20:23) and Jailene Diaz took 82nd (21:21).
The Indians placed fourth in the boys’ junior varsity national championship race as Jagdeep Chahal was second (15:40), while Jacob Calderon nabbed ninth 16:04).
Chris Hoxsie was 21st (16:24), Andrew Hoxsie took 29th (16:29), Christian Fuentes was 87th (17:07), Javier Hurtado finished 90th (17:10) and Ethan Brown was 92nd (17:10).
Burroughs claimed third overall in the boys’ junior varsity race as Evan Thomas was third (16:32), Daniel Fendrich took 10th (16:52), Trent Harrison grabbed 25th (17:24), David Olympia was 37th (17:49) and Eduardo Cabrera nabbed 43rd (17:57).
In the girls’ junior varsity race, Ariel Ramirez was 19th (21:48), while Andrea Duran finished 64th (23:32).
In the boys’ sophomore race, the Indians were fourth overall as Jerry Hoxsie was 16th (17:44), Asif Chowdhury took 17th (17:56), Sameh Gharieb was 30th (18:22), Charanpreet Singh garnered 31st (18:22), Connor Van Dyle was 66th (19:25) and Jeron Straker took 70th (19:33).
Catrina Villalpando was 13th (23:07) in the girls’ sophomore race, while Ana Villalpando placed 15th (23:12) and Kenna Guzman was 33rd (24:31).
Peter Lainson was 90th (20:36) in the boys’ freshman division race, while Johnny Padungyothee nabbed 91st (20:37).
Burroughs was second overall in the girls’ freshman race as Teresa Perez placed seventh (21:44), while Phoenix Reivers was 17th (22:35).
Kimberly Ochoa was 25th (23:08), Kayla Beals finished 27th (23:21), Julianna Navarro grabbed 30th (23:27), Iliana Mendias was 66th (25:47) and Sophie Birnbaum took 72nd (26:02).
