On July 10, 2015, at approximately 830p.m., Burbank Police began investigating a home invasion robbery in the 1000 block of Cornell Drive.

Investigators developed leads from surveillance camera video taken from a neighbor’s residence the night of the crime which led them to the City of Pasadena. The leads and investigatory work resulted in the arrest of a suspect whom resides in Pasadena.

The arrest took place Wednesday evening in the City of Pasadena.

The suspect is Lonnie Garcia, a 27 year old male from Pasadena, who was recently released from prison and is currently supervised as part of California’s Realignment Program, known as AB109. Garcia was booked at the Burbank City Jail for the home invasion robbery and attempted murder of the elderly victim on Cornell Drive. He is being held without bail and is due to be arraigned on July 17 in the Burbank Branch of the Los Angeles County Superior court.

A second person was arrested during the investigation after a short pursuit at Madre Street & Del Mar Boulevard in the City of Pasadena. He was identified as Eddie Baca, a 39 year old resident of Highland. Baca was booked for felony evading and drug sales. He is being held in-lieu of $75,000 bail and due in court tomorrow as well.

The Burbank Police Department Detectives that worked this case were the same Detectives who handled the home invasion robbery that occurred last November at the home on the 1300 block of Paseo Redondo The suspects in that case were also apprehended after assistance with security video that was supplied and suspects identified by the public.

Burbank Police wishes to thank our partners from the Pasadena Police Department for their assistance in making the arrests.

Burbank Police would like to remind residents to use caution when answering their doors for strangers and especially in the evening hours and to call the police if they become concerned about someone at or near their homes and neighborhoods they don’t recognize who should be there.

This investigation is still continuing. Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Michael Edwards at (818) 238-3264.
