Burbank High School recently held the first ever dessert festival in the small gym to raise money for student activities. The event attracted 300 locals who enjoyed tasting freshly baked treats from local specialty dessert vendors.
From start to finish, the day was filled with incredible acts performed by; Phoenyx Belly Dancers, BHS Dance Team: Unleashed, Amy Krebs, Val and Her Lovers and Media Centre Dance. Along with food and entertainment, attendees were given many chances to win raffle prizes ranging from elegant baskets donated by Cupcake Roundabouts, Snookies Cookies and Nothing Bundt Cakes. The only non-edible prize was a unique movie-themed basket filled DVD’s, t-shirts, and other goodies, all donated by, Universal Pictures. Even The Lorax stopped by to shake hands and pose for pictures.
The event raised approximately 2,500 dollars with every cent going to help student activities for Burbank High. The entire day was a success because of the many volunteers who pulled together their time and talents to make sure the festival went off without a hitch.
When asked what he thought of the turnout, Sweet Success founder and organizer, David Stamps replied, “We do this again. We will continue to raise money and awareness for nonprofits, youth organizations, etc.
We are gearing up for partnerships with Cupcakes For Cancer, Burbank’s Arts Programming with the Board of Education and a few others! I want to thank everyone who participated. There are so many thank you’s. So many. Definitely Burbank High School, BurbankNBeyond.com, BHS Baseball Team, our amazing supporters and bakers and everyone who came out!!!”
