By On December 9, 2015

John Burroughs High School Dance Students presented their annual winter dance show Friday evening, December 4, and Saturday evening, December 5. Fresh Start: New Beginnings showcased a variety of dance styles, including lyrical, jazz, hip hop, tap and contemporary.

The show featured choreography and performances by the JBHS Dance Team, All Male dance group and Dance Production class. Dancers started working on choreography in August for the show. The performance also included a large group dance by more than 50 students in the Dance 2 class at Burroughs High.

“Aside from a couple of hiccups along the way, the show was a huge success!” commented first-year dance teacher and show director Emily Pierce.

Pierce, a Chicago native with a degree in dance and a teaching credential in Physical Education, previously taught and piloted the dance programs at Valley Torah High School in Valley Village and Westmark School in Encino. She has performed in numerous commercials, music videos, television and stage shows, including the GRAMMYs.
