The California Educational Theatre Association (CETA) has awarded the JBHS production of Flowers for Algernon the First Place award for Best Play.

CETA is composed of teachers and theatre professionals who wish to promote equity and access to quality comprehensive theatre education. Each year CETA judges visit and award schools that meet their expectations of excellence in theatre arts.

Flowers for Algernon scored an incredible 99.06% out of 100% in the categories of acting, directing, and technical work. Winning First Place allows JBHS to remount the show in its entirety for the CETA High School Theatre Festival. The students will perform for their peers from other participating schools the weekend of January 16-18 at Plummer Auditorium in Fullerton and will be eligible to receive individual awards at that time.

Attendance is open to the public. Congratulations to the JBHS Drama Department, Tech Crew, Director Guy Myers, and Tech Director Jon King for their big win!
