Kimberly Rhodes has been named Network Director of Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley, it was announced today by Board President, Harold Jordan.
Ms. Rhodes brings an extensive background in staff supervision, community outreach and program development to her position with Family Promise. She has been a dedicated worker in the social service and non-profit field for over 20 years.
A native of Albertville, Alabama, Kimberly received her B.S. in Art and a minor in Human Services from the University of Montevallo in Montevallo, Alabama. While attending college, she was active in student ministries where she spent four months as a missionary in Miami, Florida working with Cuban refugees. This provided the foundation for her love of volunteering and serving others.
After working in domestic violence and mental health in Alabama for several years, Ms. Rhodes secured a position in the private sector and moved to California. Her desire to help others spearheaded her return to the mental health field by accepting the position of Program Director for a residential treatment facility for benefitting transitional youth. Dedication to her duties and work ethic moved her up the chain of command to the position of Director of Programs and Services supervising multiple programs and facilities.
Ms. Rhodes also co-chaired the development of a county funded wellness program and ran point on the creation of an outpatient clinic to further assist residents toward independent living. She continued her studies at The University of California, Los Angeles and received a certificate in co-occurring disorders.
Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley opened in July 2010 as one of over 160 networks across the country affiliated with Family Promise, a national non-profit organization committed to helping low-income families to achieve lasting independence. Family Promise helps mobilize communities to provide safe shelter, meals, and support services for homeless families through programs designed to redress the underlying causes of homelessness. Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley serves the geographic area that includes North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, and Eagle Rock, California through the participation of an Interfaith Hospitality Network of local congegations and volunteers.
