Luna Vine Wine Bar celebrated its official Grand Opening recently, complete with live music, special plates and a festive party. The small bites, wine and draft beer spot is already popular, staying open seven nights a week on Magnolia Blvd. in Magnolia Park.
Since the bar’s soft open, the staff, including Wine Director Nick Caballero and Executive Chef Wesley Pumphrey, along with co-owners Shannan VerGow and Jennifer Raim have been fine-tuning their food and drink menu. By late February, Luna Vine’s menu morphed into a more expansive version with a wider selection of meats and cheeses, salads and small plates to share.
The current small plates menu includes stuffed piquillo peppers, mussels, oysters, ahi tartare, beef carpaccio, duck rilettes, waygu sirloin, dolmades and spicy lamb meatballs.
“We are so thrilled to join the thriving retail community of Magnolia Park,” commented VerGow, who also is the bar’s General Manager. “There is such a sense of camaraderie and support among merchants and neighbors which is what Luna Vine is all about.”
Hotly anticipated for months after whetting the locals’ appetites with a sold out series of wine dinners in 2013, Luna Vine Wine Bar has seen steady business since doors first opened in late Janurary. Pumphrey has shown his commitment to a rotating, creative menu of locally-sourced fresh ingredients with his colorful and creative dishes.
“The response to us opening five weeks ago has been very positive, we have already established a wonderful group of regulars and are delighted to see many new faces walk through our doors every day,” VerGow added. “We cannot thank the Magnolia Park community enough for their kindness and support!”
The extensive wine menu showcases wines from around the world and the knowledgeable servers are able to talk with insight about the offerings and may even suggest a mini-tasting to help the decision-making process.
Several draft beers are also available, in addition to two homemade desserts, a pistachio biscotti served with a gooey spiced chocolate and an Oreo cheesecake topped with black pepper, jam and bourbon cream.
Luna Vine Wine Bar is open daily from 4:00 until 11:00 p.m. and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, with the kitchen regularly closing an hour before the bar. Recently, the bar has been running a studio hours special from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with discounts on each glass of wine or beer.
