Summer nears an end with the last Ladies and Gents Night Out of the season on August 29 in Magnolia Park. While the eclectic shopping and dining district has more excitement planned for the September and subsequent monthly events, Friday’s shindig has a classic car show, over 30 food trucks and special events all up and down Magnolia Boulevard and Hollywood Way.
Opal Moon Henna, MadCap Balloons and The Boobe Sisters are just some of the featured guests at Friday’s event, along with special events at Audrey K, Romancing the Bean, Encore Nouveau, 8Ball and many more stores in the area.
Van Dorn Gourmets will hold a tasting with their custom mixed spices. Dylan Keith Salon also offers nail art and oxygen facials specials for Friday night.
“Along with caricatures by Aiden Casserly and silhouettes by Jordan, Dark Delicacies will be featuring ‘Back to Ghoul’ specials on horror notebooks, pencils, clings and stickers,” said Dark Delicacies’ Del Howison. “Out front we’ll have the Dia De Los Puercos foodtruck.”
A classic car show fills the lot at the UMe Credit Union, located at 3000 W. Magnolia Boulevard. Along with The Grilled Cheese Truck, people can dance to live music on a dance floor.
And the fun continues through Saturday, August 30, with a special event at Autobooks-Aerobooks and neighboring shop Creature Feature. The two businesses present Monsterfink, a celebration of hot rods with live music and food from 3:00 to 10:00 p.m.
New banners, in five different designs, have recently been hung on light poles in the district. Ongoing events such as taxidermy classes at Bearded Lady Vintage and new daily kids classes at Mia and the Dragonfly including music, dance, art, games and language are some interesting options in the area, according to Magnolia Park Merchants Association President Ashley Erikson.
The final Summer Movie Nights presentation of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is scheduled for Friday, September 5, at the UMe Credit Union parking area.
