The Magnolia Park Merchants Association continues to draw people from Burbank and surrounding cities with the Second Saturdays Art Walk. Held monthly, the event celebrates local creatives with music and art as shops in the funky district stay open later into the evening.
Of special note for the October 11 Magnolia Park Second Saturdays Art Walk, Serena Creative presents a special exhibition featuring local businesses and shops in the Magnolia Park and Burbank area. The studio is located at ocated at 1712 W. Magnolia Boulevard.
The exhibit, HoMEGRoWN, is free, open to the public and runs from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Photos of AKMA Martial Arts, Audrey K, Fitness Is Art, Frenchy’s Beauty Parlor, Jackie Robbins Leather + Jewelry, KleanSpa, Luna Vine Wine Bar, Quenelle, Romancing the Bean, Sushi Dake and Tony’s Darts Away will be displayed.
“Small business owners are a special breed,” commented Jen Serena, owner of Serena Creative. “They have to be passionate about their business in order to be able to stay in business and the stories that come out of that are all worth telling.”
The regular Second Saturdays Art Walk runs from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and several Magnolia Park shops including 8Ball, A World of Color, Besame Cosmetics, Bell Cottage, Free Bird, Mindfulnest, Reclaimed, Rocket Fizz, Romancing the Bean, Swift, Towns Burr Gallery and Van Dorn Gourmets have signed on. A map of Saturday’s special guests will be available a participating shops.

Garri Dance Studio at 3715 W. Magnolia Boulevard holds free dance and music classes prior to the 5:00 p.m. Art Walk kickoff. 8Ball presents Return of the Skeletons from the Closet Art Show.
Randall Williams will create chalk art outside of Rocket Fizz. Steven Katz and his “Misfits of Melancholy” paintings will hang around Van Dorn Gourmets. More information on the participating artists and shops can be found here.
Live music from the American Roots Revival Band will brighten Towns Burr Gallery. Towns Burr features artist Sabine Steinmetz, who changes her original photos through digital manipulation to resemble silk-screened prints.
