The Friends of Music, at Burbank First United Methodist Church, proudly presents an Opera Gala, “Mezzo’s and More!” on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary at 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd. Burbank CA 91502.
This wonderful afternoon of music is presented in collaboration with the Independent Opera Company. It will feature selections from Carmen by Bizet, La Traviata and Rigoletto by Verdi, Marriage of Figaro and Abduction from the Seraglio by Mozart, Lucia Di Lammermoor by Donizetti, Die Fledermaus by Strauss, A Little Night Music by Sondheim, Cabaret by Kander and more! They will be performed by artists Elizabeth Ackerman, Misha Barsky, Steve Chavez, Kyrian Corona, Angie Engelbart, Erica Lazerow, Cynthia Leigh, Jessica mamey, Natalie Mann, Michelle Matsumune, Sarah Moor, Rachel Needleman, Tu Nguen, Tamora Pellikka, James Salazar, Mark Sauter, Katherine Trimble, Sharon Valdez and Terry Welborn.
The Friends of Music are pleased to be presenting this concert, put together under the artistic and music direction of Galina Barskya, creator of the Independent Opera Company. The IOC is committed to presenting the highest quality performances at affordable prices and to create pleasurable experiences to opera lovers as well as to introduce opera to new comers. By creating truly positive artistic experiences for everybody involved, the IOC also gives an opportunity for young singers to fully develop their art and for experienced singers to master their skills even more. Young and seasoned singers work together in harmony to give audiences a chance to experience the magical and transforming power of opera! It should prove to be an amazing afternoon of music.
