The California Coaches Association has selected its winter coaches of the year for the Southern Section. Congratulations to Burroughs Coach Mike Kodama and the other Southern Section finalists.
Boys’ Soccer: Michael Kodama, Burroughs of Burbank
A walk on coach, Michael has been at the helm of Burroughs soccer for the past 24 years. His teams have won eight league titles, including the 2013 Pacific League title. In addition, his 1994 team made it all the way to the CIF Finals.
Active in the sport, Michael has been a member of the selection committee for High School Top Ten and All-American team for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). In addition, he also served as a division representative for the Southern California High School Coaches’ Association.
He was twice been named the Pacific League Coach of the Year and his teams have been to the CIF playoffs 14 times and have won 281 games.
Kodama led the Indians to a record of 15-7-3 overall, 10-3-1 in league and a spot in the CIF quarterfinals this past season.
