Trailing 5-2, the Bulldogs scored four runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to pull out the exciting win. Ryan Porras had two hits and two RBI’s.

The Indians’ Chris Peres had an effective outing in relief throwing three innings and allowing only two hits and no runs.

Cole Meyer pitched a complete-game 3-hitter with 7 strikeouts and only 1 walk. Cameron Rodriguez delivered a pinch-hit two-run home run to spark the Indians to a five-run sixth inning.

Julia Duarte hit an inside-the-park two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Bulldogs the tournament title.

Tournament MVP Caitlyn Brooks threw a nine inning shutout allowing only two hits while striking out 16 batters.

Righetti 1 Burroughs 0
It was 0-0 going into the top of the 7th inning when a 2-out RBI single scored a Righetti baserunner to give them the lead. Sidney Ortega went 3 for 3, and Michelle Santiago and Aimee Rodriguez had the other two hits to give Burroughs a total of five hits on the day. Cheyenne Steward pitched an incredible game. She gave up 1 earned run, on 4 hits. Both teams played outstanding defense and there were great plays throughout the game which resulted in the low score.
Burroughs 9 Arcadia 6
Burroughs scored 8 runs in the top of the 1st inning to jump on Arcadia before the Apaches even came up to bat. Designated hitter Cheyenne Steward hit a grand slam, and Aimee Rodriguez and Michelle Santiago also hit home runs to lead the Indians. Dani Ryan got the win, going to 3-0. Steward pitched the final inning for the save. Burroughs did not play well defensively, making three errors which resulted in a sloppy win against a Pacific League foe.
Non-League Doubleheader
Burroughs 5 Notre Dame 0 (game one)
Cheyenne Steward (1-1) went the distance, pitching 7 innings and getting her first win on the season. Steward gave up 4 hits, and 2 BB. Offensively, Sidney Ortega was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Burroughs was being no-hit in the 4th inning when the Indians strung together three straight two-out hits to gain a lead they would hold. Michelle Santiago and Ortega singled, and Delaney Nicol drove a single to center that gave the Indians a 1-0 lead in the 4th inning. In the 5th, Aimee Rodriguez hit a booming 2-run home run that increased the lead to 3-0, and Burroughs tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning.
Burroughs 19 Notre Dame 0 (game two)
Sophomore pitcher Dani Ryan (2-0) pushed the Indians scoreless inning streak to 17 straight innings by pitching her second consecutive shutout in giving the Indians the doubleheader sweep. Ryan went 5 innings and allowed only 3 hits while striking out one batter before the game was called by the mercy rule. Hitting was the star for the Indians as they collected 19 hits in just 5 innings. Sidney Ortega, Aimee Rodriguez, Kailanie Oasay, and Ryan all collected 3 hits on the evening. Tori Talavera hit a solo home run, and Michelle Santiago, Ortega, and Delaney Nicol made history by hitting back to back to back triples in the 3rd inning. Burroughs goes to 3-1 on the season and now plays defending CIF Division 3 champion Righetti HS in the Simi Valley Tournament on Saturday at 1:00 pm.

Julia Duarte had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s as the Bulldogs pushed across 3 runs in the 2nd and 6th innings to win the opening game of the season.

Sophomore Dani Ryan pitched a 2-hit shutout while striking out six. Senior second baseman Aimee Rodriguez had the big blow, a third inning triple which scored two runs. Michelle Santiago had two hits, and Ryan had three singles. Burroughs played outstanding defense and did not commit an error.
