Burbank wins championship of the Burbank Tournament-
Pool play: Burbank split with Mark Keppel 12-25, 25-23; defeated Panorama 25-10, 25-6 and defeated St. Monica 25-21, 25-14.
Quarterfinals: Burbank 25 Immaculate Heart 23
Semifinals: Burbank 25 Campbell Hall 19
Finals: Burbank 25 Culver City 14
The Bulldogs went 8-1 overall in sets, losing only to Mark Keppel in pool play.
“We really played well,” Burbank coach Sarah Brown said. “This is a great way to start the season.”

The Bulldogs had another fine showing at the Annual Ojai Invitational at Lake Casitas. The boys were led by Senior Elliot Choe, who won the Large School boys race in 15:56. Covering the challenging 3-mile course, this was the fastest time ever by a BHS athlete. Choe was followed closely by Arsen Mkrtchyan (2nd in 16:10), Ethan Moskowitz (3rd in 16:15), Enrique Vizcaino (4th in 16:27), and Andres Vasquez (9th in 16:51).
In the Large School girls race, sophomore Candela Fernandez put her stamp on yet another course, winning in 18:42. This is the fastest time ever by a BHS girl for the second consecutive week, beating the old record by more than a minute. Fernandez was followed by Arlette Movsesyan (3rd in 20:07), Daisy Ignacio (5th in 20:19), Caroline Adams (7th in 21:00), and Stephanie Solomon (15th in 21:46).
