The Burbank Police Department is striving to reduce the number of traffic collisions in 2013.
To that end, the Burbank Police Department has initiated a traffic collision reduction plan. The objective is to combine enforcement efforts, with education, to make motorists aware of the most common causes of traffic collisions, and thereby reduce the number of collisions. The Chandler Bike Path has been identified as one of the areas of concern for our residents, drivers, and pedestrians.
On Saturday, March 23, 2013, between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., Burbank Traffic Officers will be watching for motorists who commit violations in and around the Chandler Bike Path that could contribute to the likelihood of a traffic collision.
Officers will conduct traffic stops and use them as an opportunity to educate the motoring public. Officers will be handing out instructional information to drivers, providing them with information on how not to become involved in a traffic collision. Traffic citations will be issued
in cases where the officer feels it is appropriate.
The Burbank Police Department, working together with the community, is committed to educating drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians on how to stay safe on our roads. By reducing the number of traffic collisions, the City of Burbank will be a safer place for our residents, visitors, and business patrons.

I recently moved near the Chandler Bike Path, and I’m astonished at the number of bicyclists that fail to even slow down at California & at Keystone. Both intersections have posted stop signs, but are routinely ignored.

What I find astonishing is the recent trend of drivers neglecting to stop before making a right-hand turn into traffic. it’s amazing. I can’t remember this being such a common occurrence. Now i find it rare when someone actually comes to a complete stop. The police need to pay attention to this dangerous trend.
