Dominic “Nick” V. Georgino passed away peacefully on Feb. 14 in Encino. He was 77.

He was born in Los Angeles in 1937. He graduated in the Winter 1955 Class of John Burroughs High School. He played football, basketball and baseball at Burroughs and his 1955 varsity basketball team was inducted into the John Burroughs High School Hall of Fame in 2012.
He joined the Navy shortly after graduation and was assigned to Sub-Pac, and their Special Services Division, where he played baseball and boxed, which included tours in Hawaii, Mexico City, Acapulco, San Diego and San Francisco.
In 1956, he married Dixie Redden, also a Burroughs graduate. During their 11-year marriage, they had two children, daughter Jodi and son Michael.
From 1957 to 1962, Dominic worked in the beer business, mostly for Coors. He then was employed as a sales representative for Shell Oil Co. Throughout his 11 years with that company he worked in the Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley areas. He then became a bartender at Monte’s Steak House in Encino and retired in 1997.
He was an avid golfer and loved all sports. He was a member of the Elks Club for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Vic and Sue Georgino; children Jodi and Michael; four grandchildren Chandra, Chad, Ali and Nicholas; and two great-grandchildren Audriel and Molly. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sueanne Shore, father Willie and mother Helen.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 133 N. Fifth St., Burbank. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the John Burroughs High School Athletic Department.
