Preliminary investigation shows the involved car, a red Mitsubishi Montero, was traveling north on San Fernando Boulevard, approaching Magnolia Boulevard when it struck a 23 year old female pedestrian walking across San Fernando Boulevard in a marked crosswalk. The force of the collision knocked the pedestrian to the ground, causing significant injuries, including broken bones.

The pedestrian was treated at the scene by Burbank Fire Department Paramedics and transported to an area hospital, where she is in stable condition.

The investigation revealed the driver of the vehicle, Enrique Parra – 21 years of age, a Sun Valley resident, did not have a valid driver license and was under the influence of marijuana. He was placed under arrest for felony DUI, causing injury. He was booked into the Burbank City Jail, where he is being held in-lieu of $100,000 bail. Mr. Parra is due in court on Monday, August 10, 2015.

The investigation is ongoing. No other information will be available at this time. Anyone who witnessed the collision or Mr. Parra’s driving prior to the collision is asked to contact Burbank Police Traffic Investigators at (818) 238-3100.

The Burbank Police Department reminds our community that driving after drinking alcohol or ingesting drugs is extremely dangerous. Being under the influence of any drug that acts on the brain and central nervous system impairs a driver’s motor skills, reaction time and judgment. This puts not only the driver at risk, but also passengers and others who share the road and nearby walkways.
