Burbank Police responded to a report of a burglar alarrm at Gun World, 2412 W. Magnolia Blvd. at 4:40 a.m. this morning

Burglars had cut a hole in the roof of the store, which is located on the south side of Magnolia Blvd., just east of Buena Vista St.   A police helicopter was overhead around 7 a.m., as ground units cordoned off the area.    The police department’s “swat team” was called in to make entry into the store.

The ensuing police activity and blocked streets snarled traffic in the area.  Buena Vista was closed to traffic from Clark Ave. to Chandler Blvd.  Magnolia was closed from Brighton St. to Buena Vista.   Today is the last day of school for Burbank Schools.  Traffic around Edison Elementary School and John Burroughs High School was backed up for blocks.  Keystone St. was solid with cars from Burbank Blvd. to Magnolia Blvd. as parents attempted to get their children to school.

At this time police are still searching the store for the suspects.   Burbank Fire Department paramedics and an engine company were requested to stand by in the area shortly before 9:30 a.m.  Shortly before 10 a.m. police completed their search of the store.  No suspects were found.  Streets in the area were reopened to traffic.
