Rain caused motorists to experience multiple problems on Burbank streets and Freeways on Sunday. A stretch of the I-5 Freeway between Hollywood Way and the 134 Interchange received calls for three different injury accidents..
The most serious accident that the fire department responded to was at 1:20 am when an accident involving several cars occurred on the I-5 just south of Burbank Blvd. that required 2 Rescue Ambulances 2 Engine Companies a Truck Company with the ‘Jaws of Life’ along with a Battalion Chief.
Details of the accident were not totally available, Burbank Paramedics transported one victim with non life-threatening injuries to St. Joseph’s Medical Center while the other ambulance transported the driver of the car that needed to be extricated to USC Medical Center.
California Highway Patrol officers were required to close the entire southbound lanes of the freeway while the extraction was taking place, backing up traffic in the early morning to the 170 freeway.
