Plans for a memorial service for Retired Assistant Police Chief Robert F. Heins, have been announced. Chief Heins died February 2, at the age of 76.
He was born and raised in Burbank. Chief Heins joined the Burbank Police Department on August 5, 1957. During his 45-year career with the department, he rose throught the ranks, from Patrolman to Captain, before becoming Assistant Chief. He retired on December 30, 2002.
Survivors include his wife, Sydney, three children, and grandchildren.
The memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Burbank, 700 N. Glenoaks Blvd. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to your favorite charity or the American Diabetes Association.
