Roommate Arrested for Attempted Murder After Knife Incident

Burbank Police Communications received a call at approximately 8:45 a.m on Tuesday, March 12 from a resident in the 6oo block of San Jose Avenue who claimed that  he was stabbed with a knife by his roommate, after a fight inside their apartment, according to police reports.

Officers arrived and contacted a man on the street in front of the apartment complex, holding a knife. The individual, Alvaro Rene Laborin, 32, was detained, as the officers conducted their initial investigation.

Officers located a man in the stairwell of the complex, suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim, Kenneth Villeneuve, 46, was transported to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition.

Burbank police stated that the caller originally contacted outside on their arrival, was taken into custody and booked into the Burbank Jail for attempted murder. He is being held $1 million bail, and is scheduled for arraignment on March 14,  in Burbank Superior Court.
