School Board Approves Contract for Teachers

The Burbank School Board approved the agreement between BUSD and BTA (Burbank Teachers Association) which includes a 3% salary increase, retroactive to July 1, 2015 and a 2% one-time off schedule payment, based on the newly negotiated salary schedule.

In addition, a $500 increase in the health and welfare cap for 2016 and a $500 increase effective January 1, 2017, bringing the annual District contribution to $12,000.

Teachers will receive a 3% pay raise will be effective as of October 1, 2016.  Payments will be processed within 60 days in two checks: one check for retroactive salary back to July 1, 2015 and one for a 2% one time off schedule payment.

BTA members who contribute to health care premiums in excess of the District’s cap will receive a $50 increase in the District’s contribution for the months October, November, December.  In addition to the $50 monthly increase, BTA members who contribute more than the District’s cap will receive a lump sum payment of up to $350.

In January of 2017, the amount BTA members will pay will reflect the agreed upon cap of $12,000.
