After a police chase including airship support, a 17-year-old juvenile male was arrested by Burbank Police for carrying a concealed knife, resisting arrest and possession of a lighter on Thursday, January 3, around 10:00 p.m. on the roof of a building on the 300 block of Harvard Road.
On the evening of January 23, a Burbank police officer was driving through the east garage at the Town Center Mall, on patrol in the area due to recent vehicle burglaries. The officer saw a young male wearing a sweatshirt with a hood over his head and when the young man noticed the officer, he ran in the opposite direction, according to Officer Joshua Kendrick of the Burbank Police Department.
When additional officers responded to assist, they observed the suspect running east on San Jose St. from Third St. and then through the alley towards Harvard Road. A witness stated to police the suspect was running near a building on the 300 block of Harvard Road, added Kendrick.
Burbank Police’s airship located the suspect on the roof of a building near air conditioning units and officers found the male lying down and trying to hide. The suspect was placed under arrest for resisting arrest. During the arrest, officers searched the suspect and found a knife with the handle removed and about six inches in length, which is a violation of the concealed dirk or dagger law.
The 17-year-old male was also in possession of a lighter and was cited for a violation of 308(b) penal code, which makes possession of tobacco or related paraphernalia a misdemeanor crime in California. The juvenile male was cited for the three offenses and released to his parent.
