Six New Firefighters Join The Ranks of the Burbank Fire Department

The Burbank Fire Department recently held a Graduation Ceremony for their  six newest firefighters who completed a grueling recruit academy. During the class they started with seven firefighters and lost one to another department.  During the ceremonies the new recruits demonstrated some of the skills they have learned and will use in their careers.

Burbank’s New Firefighters…

1Tom Berry is 24 years old  was previously with the Culver City Fire Department.
2Jeff Chavez 27 years old he has completed an A.S. Degree in Fire Technology, is a licensed paramedic and has experience working for the USFS in the Tahoe National Forest and as a trainee with the  Sacramento Fire Department.
3Tom Humphrey–  He has worked as a volunteer firefighter, a professional open water rescue lifeguard & open water rescue jumper for the Dewey Beach Patrol and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit.
4Justin Searcy– Before joining the BFD he was working for the UC Santa Cruz Fire  Department. Prior to Santa Cruz, Justin served for 4 years with the US Marine Corps as an Infantryman.
5David Shea–  comes to us from Goleta Ca. where he was working as a software engineer for the past 17 years  before making the commitment to pursue a career inthe fire service.
6Mickey Steinmeyer– 27 years old and has realized his dream of becoming a firefighter by joining the BFD
