The Burbank Fire Department recently held a Graduation Ceremony for their six newest firefighters who completed a grueling recruit academy. During the class they started with seven firefighters and lost one to another department. During the ceremonies the new recruits demonstrated some of the skills they have learned and will use in their careers.

Tom Berry is 24 years old was previously with the Culver City Fire Department. | |
Jeff Chavez 27 years old he has completed an A.S. Degree in Fire Technology, is a licensed paramedic and has experience working for the USFS in the Tahoe National Forest and as a trainee with the Sacramento Fire Department. | |
Tom Humphrey– He has worked as a volunteer firefighter, a professional open water rescue lifeguard & open water rescue jumper for the Dewey Beach Patrol and the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit. | |
Justin Searcy– Before joining the BFD he was working for the UC Santa Cruz Fire Department. Prior to Santa Cruz, Justin served for 4 years with the US Marine Corps as an Infantryman. | |
David Shea– comes to us from Goleta Ca. where he was working as a software engineer for the past 17 years before making the commitment to pursue a career inthe fire service. | |
Mickey Steinmeyer– 27 years old and has realized his dream of becoming a firefighter by joining the BFD | |
