7th Grader Robbed On Way Home From Muir

A student from John Muir Middle School was attacked and robbed of his cell phone Thursday as he walked home from school.  The 14 year-old boy was walking northbound on Sixth St. at Cambridge Dr., when he was approached by an older teenaged boy.

When the suspect asked to use the victim’s cell phone, the boy refused and continued walking past Thomas Jefferson Elementary School on Cambridge Dr. between Sixth St. and Karen St. The suspect then came up behind the boy and slammed him into the fence around the school.  A struggle ensued, and the larger suspect was able to overpower the boy and take his cell phone.  An apparent accomplice then pulled up in a car, picking up the suspect and speeding away.

The getaway car is described as a 1978-80 model Honda Civic 4-door type model, charcoal gray in color, with a large, distinctive orange graphic design on the passenger side of the car.  The car has reportedly been seen in the area before.   The suspect is described as a male Hispanic, 16-18 years old, with black hair.  He was wearing blue jeans and a blue v-neck shirt.  No description of the driver was given.

The Burbank Police Department is asking for anyone who may have witnessed the robbery to call the police at 818-238-3000.  If you see the suspect vehicle, try to get the license number and call police immediately.
