City News Service reports that Derrick Gharabighi, who was arrested after striking an elderly man in Costco on September 20, 2015, was sentenced to two years in prison and immediately released after be given credit for time served.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials told City News Service that Gharabighi had received two days credit in jail for every day served so was released immediately.
The ”Nutella Waffle Incident” happened September 20, 2015, at about 10:50 am when Burbank Police Officers were dispatched to the Burbank Costco, 1051 West Burbank Boulevard, regarding a fight in progress.
When they arrived, officers found a 78 year-old man who had suffered a significant laceration above his left eye and swelling around the same area of his face. The elderly man and witnesses told officers he was reaching for a Nutella waffle at a sample table when another man, identified as the 24 year-old Burbank resident at the time, took multiple samples off the table.
The elderly victim told Mr. Gharabighi that he wanted a sample and he shouldn’t take so many. Mr. Gharabighi then struck the victim on the face, causing the described injuries.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by Burbank Fire Department Paramedics, where he was treated and released.
A 19 year-old Los Angeles man better go back to school to learn some better Photoshopping skills after he arrested Saturday after trying to use a fake receipt at Costco.
Dashgombo Munkhbayar was arrested Saturday around 2:30 pm after police were called to Costco at Burbank and Victory after officers discovered that the male had generated a fake receipt that resembled Costco’s.
Munkhbayar took the receipt into the store, picked up the items he had listed on the receipt, and attempted to walk out of the store with over $1,400.00 of unpaid merchandise. The employee who verifies receipts noticed the receipt was not authentic, and store security took the suspect into custody until police arrived.
The officers determined the suspect entered the store with the intent to steal. Munkhbayar was then taken into custody and transported to Burbank jail where he was booked. His bail was set at $ 20,000.00.
Munkhbayar posted bail, and is scheduled to appear in court on April 9
A 38 year-old father was arrested after leaving his 14 month-old baby girl unattended in a vehicle Thursday morning around 11:45 am. Officers arrived at the Costco store, located at 1051 West Burbank Blvd, and found a baby inside the vehicle sitting in a car seat. The baby was sleeping and sweating and the vehicle was locked and had all four door windows slightly opened. Officers were able to open the vehicle and remove the baby, calling the paramedics who arrived and medically examined the baby and determined she was okay. Approximately ten minutes later, the father, identified as Edik Magardomyan (38) of Glendale, returned to the vehicle and was placed under arrest for child endangering. A heat sensor gauged the inside vehicle temperature to be 115 degrees. The child was transported to the police station and will be released to the custody of the Department of Children Services.
