Serial Ikea Mattress Thief Caught

Over the past several months, Burbank Police have been investigating a series of grand theft and burglary crimes with information provided by Ikea security and loss prevention officers.

A suspect had been seen stealing mattresses from Ikea, often without being noticed, but other times by providing falsified documentation claiming he owned the products.

Burbank detectives identified the suspect and partnered with Ikea staff to monitor his visits, as he returned to the store several times.

On September 27, the suspect attempted to steal another mattress but was soon apprehended by police.

The suspect has been identified as Kevin Estrella, 23  with the occupation listed as a student living in Los Angeles.

The total estimated loss is valued at over $42,432.00.

Estrella is currently out of custody after posting bond. Formal charges are now pending review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Ikea is located at 600 South Ikea Way in Burbank.

Three Grand Theft Suspects Escape

On Monday, August 6 at 5:50 p.m., Burbank Police responded to an incident of grand theft at Target in Empire Center, located at 1800 Empire Ave.

After the three adult suspects, two men and one woman, stole more than $900 in electronics, they were confronted by loss prevention officers. One of the suspects then punched the officer in the face and proceeded to flee the scene.

The suspects, reported as two men and a woman, left the stolen items behind and reportedly fled in a white sedan.

Stolen Gardener’s Truck Recovered, Tools Missing

On Monday, April 2 at 5:35 p.m., Burbank Police responded to a call about a stolen Ford F350 which contained gardening tools on the 400 block of North Lamer St.

Around 6:00 p.m., the truck was discovered unoccupied in an alley at Verdugo Ave. and Keystone St. with some of the gardening equipment missing.

Two suspects are believed to be involved. One of the suspects who is described as an African American male drove a getaway truck that might have been a silver Dodge Ram.

The other suspect was a Caucasian male possibly in his 30s, wearing a black sweater, black gloves, black hat, and black jeans.

Two People Arrested For Grand Theft And Narcotic Possession

A man and a woman were arrested for grand theft by Burbank Police for taking 11 Michael Kors purses and two pieces of luggage from the Marshalls store at 1701 N. Victory Place on Monday, January 27, at 5:30 p.m. Marshalls security called BPD when the pair, Rosemary Alcantar of Oxnard and Ruben Flores of Santa Paula, were seen placing the purses inside the two pieces of luggage in the store.

Burbank Police apprehended Alcantar and Flores near their vehicle after they left the store with the items. A search of their vehicle turned up a small amount of suspected heroin. The value of the items taken from Marshalls was about $1000 and the items were recovered.

Alcantar and Flores were arrested for grand theft and possession of narcotics and are being held at the Burbank Jail on a $20,000 bail each. They are due in court on tomorrow.
