Kyle Ongsing, age 28 and a resident of North Hollywood, was arrested by Burbank police officers for recklessly evading police among other charges on Thursday, April 10, around 6:30 p.m. The incident began at Burbank and San Fernando Boulevards in downtown Burbank and finally ended about a mile northwest on N. Griffith Park Drive.
Around 6:00 p.m. Thursday, officers in the area of Burbank and San Fernando Boulevards observed a driver committing multiple vehicle code violations, according to Ofc. Joshua Kendrick of the Burbank Police Department.
Officers turned on the red and blue lights, intending to pull over the suspect driver, and when they did, the driver quickly sped forward, said Kendrick. “While doing so, the driver committed multiple vehicle code violations and almost collided with other vehicles.”
The suspect drove over the Burbank Boulevard overpass that crosses the 5 Freeway, turning onto Victory. He then turned northbound onto Griffith Park Drive and stopped in the middle of the block.
Officers conducted a felony stop on Ongsing, said Kendrick, ordering him out of the vehicle and to lay face down in the middle of the street before taking him into custody.
Ongsing was booked at the Burbank Jail for felony reckless evading of an officer, driving on a suspended license and a warrant for reckless driving. He was then transported to L.A. County Jail and his bail set at $75,000.
Ongsing, who is also listed in records as Ongsiang, was arrested on February 13, 2014, by Burbank police, according to L.A. Sheriff Department records. The warrant for reckless driving also carries an additional $10,000 bail.
“The suspect was driving very recklessly, endangering the lives of others,” said Kendrick. “He had multiple opportunities where he could have yielded and pulled to the curb, but he did not.
