Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony Kicks Off Month Of Holiday Cheer

The City of Burbank and Mayor Emily Gabel-Luddy invite people to attend the annual Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony today, Saturday December 7, at 6:00 p.m. on the front steps of City Hall. Santa Claus will make a special entrance on Fire Engine 11 and entertainment will be provided by the RC Dance Center Rockettes, Reach Dance Academy and Burbank High School’s Gentlemen’s Octet. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new toy or gift for the Burbank Fire Department’s Spark of Love Toy Drive.

Jeff Hopkins will emcee the ceremony and Mickey and Minnie Mouse and special guests from Disney studios will help celebrate. After the lighting of the tree, visitors can take a photo with Santa and Mrs. Claus from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. People can write letters of support to American troops overseas, enjoy music and an evening ice skating session.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony ushers in a month of fun-filled and family friendly events in Burbank, including Breakfast with Santa, Skate with Santa and more. Burbank’s outdoor ice skating park, The Rink, will remain open until 11:30 p.m. City Hall is located at 275 E. Olive Ave. and plentiful free parking is available in nearby structures and lots.

A Little Rain is Not Going to Stop Santa From Tree Lighting Ceremony

Hundreds braved the light rain and came out to help Burbank Mayor David Golonski, Mickey & Minnie Mouse and Santa and Mrs. Claus in this years tree lighting ceremonies.

Following the tree lighting the crown moved down San Fernando Blvd, to other activities such as The Radio Disney DJ’s, Ice Carver, Jugglers, and pictures with Mr & Mrs Claus.

Time to Deck the (City) Hall, It’s Christmas Time

Burbank City Hall’s Christmas tree was put into place Wednesday morning and decorated by Park, Recreation and Community Services employees from the Forestry Division.

Hundreds of lights and ornaments adorne the tree. This year some new ornaments have been put into place.

The event gets underway starting at 6 p.m. Saturday evening, when Santa will make his big arrival.  He will help Burbank citizens light up this year’s tree, and kick off his 25 days of Christmas Cheer in Downtown Burbank.

Join thousands of cheering families as they welcome the 450-ton Holiday Toy Express and enjoy free entertainment, hot chocolate and cookies from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Bring new, unwrapped toys and sporting equipment for the ABC 7 Spark of Love Toy Drive in cooperation with the Burbank Fire Department. Toys go to Burbank kids in need.

Santa Makes Early Stop at Boys & Girls Club

Santa made a detour the other day and stopped into The Boys & Girls Club of Burbank to spread some extra cheer. Santa was helped out with extra gifts made possible with the help of Burbank branches of Bank of America, and the managers of the branches also gathered together some special gifts for complete families and presented them, while Santa was giving each boy & girl something extra to put under their Christmas tree.
