A 19 year-old Burbank man is in jail, and his 5 week-old daughter is in the hospital in critical condition.
According to Burbank Police, the department was notified by Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles Tuesday evening, that they were treating an infant with multiple broken bones. It appeared that the broken bones were the result of possible child abuse. Officers and investigators responded to the hospital and interviewed the baby’s parents and the medical personnel at the hospital.
As a result of the investigation, the baby’s father, Matthew Wojcik, 19, of Burbank, was placed under arrest for felony child abuse. He is being held in the Burbank Jail, with bail set at $100,000. He is due to appear in court on Friday, October 26. According to police, the baby’s 21 year-0ld mother was not arrested, but the case remains under investigation.
Wojcik’s infant daughter remains at Children’s Hospital. She is listed in critical, but stable condition.
