Four separate instances of third row seats begin stolen from large SUVs were reported recently, said Burbank Police. Similar entries to the vehicles were made and the thefts were from two separate locations.
Between 11:00 p.m. February 13 and noon on Friday, February 14, a GMC Yukon’s rear glass door was pried open and the third row seat taken while the vehicle was parked at 2200 Empire Avenue.
Between 8:00 p.m. February 13 and 8:00 a.m. February 14, a Chevy Suburban’s rear glass door was also pried open and third row seat stolen as it was parked on the 2100 block of Empire Avenue.
On February 16, a tan 2007 GMC Yukon had its driver’s door lock punched out and third row seat taken between 6:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. while it was parked at 133 E. Orange Grove Avenue.
During the same time period, 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., on February 16, a silver 2007 Chevy Suburban parked at 501 N. Third St. also had its driver door punched and third row seat stolen.
Because of the similar times, locations and methods of entry, it is possible the same suspects are responsible for all four burglaries, according to Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department.
Backing into a spot is one way to prevent thieves from taking the third row seat from a large SUV, he added.
No suspects or suspect vehicle descriptions are available at this time.
