Burbank Fire and Police received a call at 1:10 p.m. Monday, July 20 to the 1300 block of Chandler of a possible house fire with two elderly people trapped inside.

Police arrived on scene first and helped the residents from their home with neighbors assisting. Both people inside the home required medical assistance along with another person on scene. Three paramedic ambulances were dispatched to the scene and transported the victims to a local hospital with smoke inhalation.

Once arriving on scene, firefighters saw smoke coming from the front of the house and made quick work of the fire. The fire was mostly contained to a laundry room and the flames were knocked down within 10 minutes.

Three Burbank Police officers were also transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center for smoke inhalation. They were treated and released after being checked out. They were the first inside the house to rescue the victims.

Firefighters at the scene put damage at $10,000 to contents and $50,000 to the structure.

No firefighters were injured. Burbank Animal Shelter was called to the scene to take four dogs for safe keeping.

The cause of the fire was being investigated but appeared to be accidental in nature.
