The first occurred at Hollywood Way and Alameda Ave., at approximately 8:52 p.m. Three bike riders were traveling together southbound on Hollywood Way, when one of them was struck by a car going eastbound on Alameda. The rider, a 55 year-old Burbank man, was hit so hard he landed on the car’s hood and destroyed the windshield of an SUV. He was transported by Burbank Fire Department Paramedics “Code 3” to the LA County-USC Trauma Center with critical head injuries and other injuries. His riding companions were not involved in the accident. Police closed down that intersection for several hours while they investigated the accident. At this time the driver, who did stop at the scene, and spoke with police during the investigation, has not been cited.

The second accident involving a bicyclist occurred lesss than a mile away and 90 minutes later. Burbank Police were called to the intersection of Buena Vista St. and Riverside Drive, where a female was struck on a bike. She sustained a slight head injury, and was transported by Burbank Fire Department Paramedics to Providence Saint Joseph’s Medical Center for further observation.
