The Family Service Agency of Burbank, Burbank Housing Corporation, and The Burbank Redevelopment Agency held a joint ‘Open House’ on a project being called A Place of Peace Linden House. This new four-unit transitional housing facility and the opening of a program aimed at providing housing, counseling, and supportive services to young adults between the ages of 18 and 22 and emancipated youth. Under the supervision of an adult resident caregiver, up to six homeless young persons will be housed in three, two-bedroom apartments.
The remodeled houses at 225 and 227 W Linden will be under the supervision of Pastor Ross Purdy of Burbank Presbyterian Church. The group gathered and heard speeches from Peter McGrath, President of Burbank Housing Corp., Pastor Ross Purdy, Sylvia Moreno, Senior Project Manager BHC and Judith Arandes, Executive Director BHC.
During the open house a hand made tile was presented to Sylvia Moreno, the project manager who put in many hours getting this project completed. Also presented was a dedication of a tile plaque presented in honor of Peter and Lou Ann McGrath, who also has dedicated numerous hours on this and other projects.
