With the end of the fiscal year came the end of the careers of two long term city employees who dedicated their lives to the citizens of Burbank for over 72 man years. Burbank Firefighter Kevin Parks who graduated from Burbank High School back in 1975 and started his career with the Burbank Fire Dept in 1979 was honored by family and fellow firefighters in the day room of Fire Station 11.

There were plenty of stories that went around including the introduction of Kevin’s father Jack who retired back in 1987 after a 27 year career with The Burbank Fire Department.  Kevin introduced his wife Sandy a former Burbank Police Dispatcher, and plenty of additional family members before everyone enjoyed a sheet cake made from Martino’s teacakes and Ice Cream.

Days later fellow City Employees gathered at the DeBell Club House to honor long time city employee Bob Kinzel from theForestry Division who has spent over 40 years serving the citizens of Burbank.

Kinzel was showered with plaques from every city organization including one from Robert Vincent a reporter and host for BurbankNBeyond  who also heads up Burbank’s Civic Pride Committee. Jan Bartolo, Forestry’s Division Manager, who was M.C. shared plenty of stories of Bob from over his career. Kinzel who also has been a lifelong Burbank resident, and a graduate of Burbank schools, was pleasantly surprised at the outpouring of love and care.
