UPDATE: May 1, 2014, 2:56 p.m. The two injured female pedestrians are sisters and remain at Holy Cross Medical Center. The 19-year-old female sustained a broken right shoulder and broken right elbow. The 16-year-old female remains in the ICU with head trauma, according to Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Two women were hit by a vehicle driven by an 80-year-old Burbank woman on Monday, April 28, at 8:45 p.m. as they crossed Olive Avenue at Virginia Avenue near the Olive Recreation Center. Both pedestrians were transported to Holy Cross Medical Center.
One woman suffered a broken shoulder and elbow and the other underwent a scan at the trauma center after suffering a possible brain injury. Police have not released their ages or names.
“Trauma center personnel indicated to us the injury was not life threatening,” said Sgt. Darin Ryburn of the Burbank Police Department. “But, with any head trauma injury, the situation could still change.”
The 2003 Toyota was headed east on Olive Avenue in the number two lane and struck the pedestrians crossing Olive southbound against the red light. The pedestrians were in the east crosswalk when they were hit.
BPD continues to investigate the accident and asks for any witnesses to contact them with information at 818-238-3000.
As of Tuesday morning, there is no further information on the condition of the injured pedestrians.
“The police softball team was playing nearby at Olive Park and ran over to render aid and talk with witnesses immediately after the accident,” added Ryburn.
