UMe Credit Union announced its new fundraiser for the Burbank Educational Foundation (BEF), benefiting our Burbank Unified School District. The “15 For 15 Challenge” seeks to raise $15,000 from 15,000 UMe members for the 15,000 students in the Burbank Unified School District.
Additionally, UMe will match donations up to $15,000 for the BEF, a local organization that provides assistance to BUSD through important teacher grants and more.
UMe supports area charities and organizations through its UMeHelps initiative. However, The BEF’s mission to promote excellence in Burbank schools is particularly special to the credit union. UMe was started by a group of Burbank teachers in 1940, and the credit union regularly supports local schools, including $5,000 in scholarships for Burbank high school students.
UMe’s CMO and VP of Marketing, Anita Hutchinson commented, “UMe is thrilled to help the BEF give teachers and students in Burbank the tools they need to thrive. The fact that they serve 15,000 students in Burbank and we have 15,000 members seemed like the perfect opportunity. We saw that there was a real need for support, but also a community large and generous enough to rise to the occasion.”
“The 15 For 15 Challenge” is ongoing, but UMe intends to make it an annual fundraiser, increasing its target every year as the credit union’s membership grows.
