For a credit union that began as an inspired idea by a group of Burbank school teachers, commitment to the local community has always been at the heart of UMe. Today, the credit union is brimming with hometown pride as it announces its annual scholarship program supporting Burbank students who will go on to do great things in the world.
With the UMe Super Awesome Scholarship, high school students in Burbank can receive $2,500 to support their future academic endeavors. The Burbank-based credit union is now pulling out its bullhorn, calling all local high school seniors with big plans — and even bigger dreams — to apply. Two super awesome students will be chosen each year by UMe’s management team, starting with the 2018-2019 graduating class.
If you are a senior enrolled in a high school in Burbank, California who has at least a 3.0 GPA, a UMe checking account for three months, and has been accepted for admission to a recognized junior college, accredited college or university or vocational coursework leading to a secondary education, congratulations, you’re awesome and you are eligible.
The Super Awesome Scholarship application consists of a student’s academic record, personal essay, letters of recommendation, and student activity information. Applications are available online or at UMe at 3000 W. Magnolia Boulevard in the Magnolia Park neighborhood of Burbank. Completed applications can be hand-delivered to the UMe concierge desk (Come see us! We’re cool.) or mailed to the UMe Marketing Team, P.O. Box 7767, Burbank, CA 91510-7767.
The deadline for completed applications is April 15, 2019. The Super Awesome Scholarship recipients will be announced in May of 2019.
