After a lengthy closure, the pool at the Verdugo Recreation Center will reopen on June 8, 2013.  The facility features a 50-meter pool which can be configured for lap swimming or recreational use.  One-meter and three-meter diving boards are available for use during recreational swim times.

As part of the construction, an activity pool was added to the aquatics center.  The new area offers various water features and climbing surfaces for younger children and two water slides for older children and adults.  Other renovations to the pool area, which has been closed since 2008, include the pool deck surface, locker rooms and lifeguard offices.  New concession and mechanical facilities were also constructed.

Admission fees for recreational swim at the Verdugo Aquatic Facility range from $2.00 for resident children to $4.00 for adults.  A separate fee of $2.00 is required to gain access to the activity pool area.

The complete list of fees, and a full schedule of hours for lap swim and recreational swim are available on the City of Burbank’s website, http://www.BurbankCA.gov.

The Verdugo Aquatics Facility was originally constructed in 1948.  During the 1984 Summer Olympics, the pool was used as a training facility for Olympic athletes.
