Nearly 120 community leaders, elected officials, Zonta members, and supporters gathered Saturday, September 26 at Santuari Event Space to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the Zonta Club of Burbank Area, honoring nine decades of service, advocacy, and support for women and girls in Burbank and beyond.
While the luncheon celebrated the club’s rich history since its founding in 1936, the centerpiece of the program was a special tribute to Gloria Salas, one of the organization’s most influential leaders.
A past president of the Zonta Club of Burbank Area, former Governor of Zonta District 9, and current member of the club’s Board of Directors, Salas was recognized for her decades of leadership and service to Zonta and the broader community. Friends, colleagues, elected officials, and fellow Zontians shared video messages and personal reflections highlighting her lasting impact and unwavering commitment to advancing opportunities for women and girls.
The milestone celebration brought together a distinguished group of guests, including Congresswoman Laura Friedman, Burbank Mayor Tamala Takahashi, Vice Mayor Zizette Mullins, City Councilmembers Konstantine Anthony and Nikki Perez, City Clerk Kimberley Clark, City Treasurer Krystle Palmer, and Burbank Chief of Police Rafael Quintero.
The event also welcomed prominent Zonta leaders, including Sharon Langenbeck, former President of Zonta International, and Nicole Miller, Governor of Zonta District 9. Among those in attendance was Tim Murphy, Salas’s husband and a Diamond Sponsor of the anniversary celebration.
The afternoon began with a welcome and toast to the club’s 90-year legacy, followed by lunch and a program reflecting on the organization’s accomplishments across nine decades. Guests enjoyed a commemorative video chronicling the history of the Zonta Club of Burbank Area and its contributions to the community through scholarships, advocacy initiatives, service projects, and support for local nonprofits.
The anniversary celebration served not only as a reflection on the club’s remarkable past, but also as a reaffirmation of its ongoing mission to build a better world for women and girls. As members honored the achievements of the past 90 years, they also looked ahead to a future of continued service, leadership, and community impact.
