Fall sports are underway for the city's high schools.

Friday night’s game between Burroughs and North Hollywood came down to two plays and both went in favor of the Huskies.

There is an invasive visitor to the East Fork of the San Gabriel River, aggressively sucking up water resources, contributing to fire danger, and squeezing out native plants. The Tamarisk, an alien shrubby tree is the invader disrupting the San Gabriel watershed ecosystem. Eagle Scout candidate Griffin Armstorff, from Boy Scout Troop 209 in Burbank, believes the Tamarisk can be brought under control.

The roots of a strong athletic program lie in the foundation of its principles. It begins with discipline and structure and ends with character and sportsmanship.

As another sign of safety precaution, the John Burroughs and Burbank football programs invested in the gamebreaker helmets this past summer.

In their regular season opener on Friday night at Memorial Field, Burroughs lost to Paraclete of Lancaster, 35-10, but in the process lost its first and second string quarterbacks during the contest.

Each year students take exams in English Language Arts (ELA), mathematics, science, and end-of-course exams. High school end-of-course exams include mathematics, science, and social science

West Ranch was too much to handle as the Wildcats handed Burbank its first loss of the season, 28-7, Thursday night at Memorial Field.

This is the first game back at home on Memorial Field for Burroughs after having spent all of last year traveling on the road.

DeLaurie met with the players in the program Tuesday afternoon where he was introduced officially by Athletic Director Fred Cook.
