Two Burbank elementary schools are honored as California Distinguished Schools. Miller and Stevenson are also celebrated by the CA Department of Education with the Exemplary Arts Education award, given to only 13 schools in the state this year.

John Muir Middle School celebrated the statewide John Muir Day with the unveiling of the "Yosemite Valley" art installation on campus. The massive art work was created by local artist Randall Williams with help from Muir art students.

Fritz Coleman reprises his role as Master of Ceremonies for the 2014 BAFA Party On The Plaza. Local arts supporters are feted at the gala along with Honorary Chairs including Tim Burton, Dick Cook, Don Hahn, Ron Howard, Garry Marshall and Brett Ratner.

More than 50 individuals were feted for their dedication and efforts to providing opportunities and making a difference in Burbank public schools.

BUSD plans to expand the popular Spanish Dual Immersion language program to McKinley Elementary in the coming school year. New McKinley Principal Liz Costella is expected to provide strong support.
